A SCHIEDAM DRY GIN
Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin is named after my grandfather, Jacobus Alfons, known to his friends and family as Bob or Bobby.
It was his recipe that inspired us.
It took us almost two years to make Bobby’s, a very fine and balanced distilled gin.
Eight botanicals all separately distilled. No additives, sugars or extractions. Simply pure taste.
A fresh take on a timeless classic.
– EAST MEETS WEST –
Schiedam, the Netherlands. It is here, in the jenever capitol of the world, that Herman Jansen distills his first malt wine gin at Distillery ‘De Tweelingh’.
This unique spirit, lovingly known as ‘Dutch Courage’, is shipped to the United Kingdom where over time it evolves to what we now know as London Dry Gin.
Jacobus Alfons, or Bobby to his family
and friends, born in Naku, Ambon (Indonesia),
migrated to the Netherlands.
Bobby loved Dutch Jenever, but missed the taste of home, so he started infusing his jenever with familiar Indonesian spices and herbs. Unknowingly creating his own gin. And laying the foundation for
Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin.
Bobby’s grandson Sebastiaan discovered an old bottle at his mother’s house. Inspired by the story about his grandfather and his unique Indonesian recipe, he went to Schiedam, the city where gin originated. There he met the seventh generation master distiller of Herman Jansen. Together they started working on creating a unique gin, blending the tradition of Schiedam jenever with the best Indonesian botanicals and spices.
After almost two years of distilling, developing and refining, Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin is born.
THE PERFECT B&T
We know there is no such thing as a perfect Gin & Tonic. But that sure doesn’t discourage us from trying to create one. The perfect B&T consists of the following elements.
Off course we start off with the essential, Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin. For our perfect B&T, pour 50ml into a glass full of ice.
No B&T without tonic. Our favorite is Fever-Tree Indian Tonic, off which you pour 150ml for a proper balance between gin and tonic.
To accentuate the spice and fragrance, garnish with a wedge of orange and a few cloves.
It takes first class gin and vermouth and it is not a Martini.
This is a fresh take on one of the best marriages in the world of drinks. A real man’s drink and definitely our new favorite.
First, start with a lowball, or old fashioned glass filled with ice. Take 35ml of Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin to start with.
Than add 35ml of the great Cocchi Vermouth di Torino. Finish this characteristic cocktail with two dashes of orange bitter.
Stir gently and garnish with a twisted strip of thinly sliced orange peel.
The Fizz is a fresh and creamy drink, perfectly suitable for every occasion. Whether it is a summer afternoon refreshment or the start of a perfect night out.
1. THE BASIS
Start The Fizz with 50ml of Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin, put it in a shaker together with 25ml of fresh lemon juice, 15ml of sugar water, ice and
one egg white.
2. THE MAGIC
Now shake it really well and gently pour it into a longdrink glass.
3. THE FINISHING TOUCH
Top up with the lovely and spicy Sicilian Lemonade by Fever-Tree. Be sure you pour it gently along the side of the glass, or via the stem of a bar spoon to ensure the foam stays nice and firm. Garnish with a fresh spring of mint for your perfect serve.
